Our professional development is fun and helps participants explore a range of ways the ActivClassroom can be integrated across the NZ curriculum helping to enhance student achievement.

By learning the basic skills and having the opportunity to revisit and practise them, teachers develop confidence to create dynamic lessons as well as planning for students to use the technology to support teaching and learning.

Are you looking for a dynamic presenter for your cluster or conference? Our team has a wealth of classroom knowledge and they are experienced presenters. Whether you're looking for an introduction, a 'taster' or an in-depth view of a particular area – we can even bring the ActivClassroom to you (or at least most of it!)

Onsite Training

We recognise that each school we work with is at a different point in their technology journey and for this reason our onsite training is completely customised to the needs of each school. Once the key objective for the school has been established our trainer will discuss your preferred training option – individual training, small groups or to the whole staff. Some schools like teachers to have hands on time at the ActivBoard while others see benefit in teachers bringing their laptops to the session. The choice is yours.

Your training is planned and customised utilising the skills of the Teaching and Learning Advisor Team which has over 50 years of combined experience. As well as teaching skills and pedagogical strategies for classroom use, we aim to motivate and inspire teachers to fully utilise the tools of the ActivClassroom.

Teacher Only Days and In-Service Days are a very popular time for booking our trainers, so it is of paramount importance to book these days well in advance. Please note that all travel and accommodation costs for onsite training are additional. Training costs start from $250+GST

Introduction to inspire
Level 1 – Part A

Suitable for: All teachers new to ActivInspire
Price per participant: $175

Just got your ActivBoard and are new to ActivInspire? Then this 1 day introductory workshop is just for you! The course content includes: using the toolbox and the basic tools, working with text, saving and opening flipcharts, adding your own sound recordings, manipulating images, searching and using resources, as well as using some simple presentation tools. We'll also explore the wonders of Promethean Planet and show you where to go to for help. By the end of this session you'll be able to use some of the basic interactive elements of your ActivBoard.

Introduction to inspire
Level 1 – Part B

Suitable for: Teachers that have completed Level 1 Part A
Price per participant: $175

Ready for the next step on your ActivBoard journey? Come and join us on this 1 day group workshop. The course content includes: updating software, personalising your toolbox, exploring more tools to use in your classroom, learning time savers, inserting videos and taking live snapshots from videos, adding your own sound recordings, manipulating images and text, and navigating quickly and easily through your flipchart. We'll have a more in depth look at Promethean Planet – giving you tips for searching and downloading flipcharts. On completion of this course, you'll be able to create interactive activities quickly and easily ultimately saving you time!

Maths spotlight

Suitable for: Participants must have completed Level 1 – Part B.
Price per participant: $175

ActivInspire makes the teaching and learning of maths easy. Not only is there a full range of maths tools from rulers to protractors, but there is a wealth of maths resources ready and waiting for you. The course will cover: using the maths tools, exploring the maths resources and saving them so that they can be found again quickly, designing grids, understanding and using layers, learning the basics about containers and simple actions. All participants will receive a digital maths resource pack when they attend this session.

Literacy spotlight

Suitable for: Participants must have completed Level 1 – Part B.
Price per participant: $175

Latch onto literacy learning where the only limitation is your imagination. Become even more skilled at creating interactive activities and learn how your students can fully utilise the ActivBoard as a tool for literacy learning. The course will cover: personalising learning using the camera tool and sound recorder, wowing students with magic ink for self checking, exploring ideas for differentiation, saving resources in places you'll find them again later, locking objects and using layers, as well as introduction to containers and presentation tools. Participants will receive a digital literacy resource pack when they attend this session.

SCIENCE spotlight

Suitable for: Participants must have completed Level 1 – Part B.
Price per participant: $175

Bring science alive using ActivInspire! Create interactive and fun science activities to engage your students and enhance their learning. Learn valuable ideas that you can implement into your classroom programme. The course will include: ideas for introducing topics, utilising text straight from the internet, exploring science resources, adding labels for self-checking, using restrictors and blockers as well as an introduction to containers and simple actions. Explore ways in which to use sound and videos to make the teaching of science even more enjoyable. Participants will receive a digital resource pack when they attend this session.

advanced techniques and skills

Suitable for: Participants must have completed at least one Spotlight Session.
Price per participant: $225

Take your skills and knowledge to the next level! This one day course will focus on advanced techniques to enhance your flipcharts including: advanced actions and restrictors, creating resource packs, software shortcuts and time saving ideas and ways to promote higher order thinking. We'll look at flipchart design, differentiation and children at the board. The implementation of effective ActivBoard practice across your school will also be covered. This course leads to the award of a Level 2 Certificate.
